Volvo said its new V60 estate will be 'one of the safest cars on the road', It features the first system that can detect and avoid cyclists and large animals
Swedish car firm Volvo is charging ahead with a new model designed to appeal to modern family values - with an electric hybrid option for those who want to be green.
But rather than have a glitzy unveiling with flashing lights and razzmatazz, it has launched its versatile new V60 estate in its natural habitat – the driveway of a family home in Stockholm.
Volvo promises that the new V60 will be ‘one of the safest cars on the road’ by protecting not only the occupants but also pedestrians, cyclists and large animals.
The Swedish vehicle maker took the wraps off its new five-door, mid-size premium estate in the suburbs of its home nation's capital to highlight what it said was Volvo Cars' pedigree in family estates.
But it comes as a price as the new hi-tech estate has gone up market and is expected to cost from around £28,000 – or about £3,000 more than the model it replaces.
Volvo said the new V60 aims to combine good looks with everyday practicality with a luxurious interior, increased space, advanced connectivity, plus the firm’s latest driver support and safety systems.
